Mission & Purpose

Corporal John Paul Barta was a class of 2000 graduate of Flour Bluff. In his time at Flour Bluff he excelled as an athlete, being named to the All-State team in football and baseball. John Paul was a loyal, dedicated, and loving friend, brother, and son. His selflessness, and giving heart led him to join the Army. In 2006 John Paul lost his life in Iraq fighting for his country.

In 2011 a group of John Paul’s friends decided to put together a golf tournament to honor his name, and to raise money to erect a monument in his name at his alma mater, Flour Bluff. The golf tournament was a huge success and had a lot of people asking to do it again. With the success of the tournament and the support of so many giving people we were able to become an official non-profit organization, and start The John Paul Barta Memorial Fund.

The mission of The John Paul Barta Memorial Fund is to honor a great person and an American hero. It is designed to help families in need during the holiday season, by providing food and gifts. The organization aims to provide school supplies for kids during the school year. The organization has also created scholarships, and aims to create more to help local students pay for college tuition.
